Marc Ching Bowing before a Tortured and Cremated Dog #20

The Compassion Project:

My trip is set. Five countries in nine days.

The most intense, and probably the most grueling journey I have set upon in regards to liberating dogs, that cannot liberate themselves.

I will visit a total of eleven slaughterhouses, two dog farms - all in a nine day expanse. My aim and goal, to rescue and save whomever it is that I can. But also to work to obtain the footage I believe I need in order to push governments to enact change.

Because if I could take you there. If you could hear the way they use their words to ask for mercy.

If you could stand with me there. If you could hold my hand as the Earth pulls their exploding hearts from my reach. You would bleed the same tears I bleed. And in the end, at that moment when you and I face death - you would have no choice but to face it with me.

Because once you see it. Once your skin is stained in the stench that dismembering a dog alive leaves across your chest - who you are, it will be the same tattooed sleeves that hold these dying dogs in my arms.

When I press my feet into that place. When who I am journeys pass the divide that separates humanity from the inhumane, I find my skin flush against a blade.

I stand there. On that precipice - breaking into the wind like ice falling from the sky to my knees. It was my chest they cut open. It was my palms that they nail gunned crucifying my hands into walls.

I have to be the one to save them.

North Vietnam. Cambodia. Thailand. Yulin China. South Korea. 5 countries. 11 slaughterhouses. 9 days.

May my heart, and may my wanting to do good keep me safe. May I find my way back home to my children and my family. May the goodness inside of me, may I not lose the best of who I am to darkness.

Freedom... it begins March 2nd 2016.

Let the tears I push through my skin, and the way I live my life - be the way in which I am remembered. My name is Marc Ching. This is the heart of rescue. And I am the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation.

I die, because someone has to die to save them. Rescue me.  ###Marc Ching

                                                               Boots #12

My name is Boots,

I am one of 16 German Shephards rescued from the meat trade in Tianjin China.

At the time of my liberation all my paws were bound, and literally I was saved minutes before my feet were set to be cut off. When Marc Ching rescued me, he pulled me from darkness with over twenty other dogs. Some whose legs were dismembered, some whose paws had been severed so the foot itself could be dried and sold, like how people would buy a rabbit's foot for luck.

I am an American now, one of eleven dogs that touched down today at Los Angeles International Airport.

When Marc saw me, he told me his heart felt confused. While he was so incredibly happy and proud that I survived and made the journey - inside of him there is still that part they hung by a noose. Still that part that bleeds from his heart into his shoes.

He told me that he lies awake at night. That he holds his son as close to his flesh as one possibly could, but that tears still escape leaving marks like how a blade does when cutting into a wound.

I licked his nose with that same softness in which he used to unbind my foot. I want him to remember the lives saved, not the breaths he could not liberate.

The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation believes that pressure from the masses, and a million hearts uniting into a common front will be enough to change laws and bring about compassion.

Because even though Marc is dead and dying, even though his heart is shards evaporated into dried pools underneath his feet - he still believes that within us all there is love and good.

My name is Boots, and while I was born into the meat trade, I was also born to be a beacon of truth and living proof that light can be found in the darkest of places.

I am up for adoption. Mom and Dad, be the dream that salvation whispered to me. Be the hope I believed and held in my hands when who I was had to be so enduring.  ### Marc Ching

Yet another nearly crucified, broken spirit was rescued by the compassionate, Japanese Viking warrior, Lord of the Dogs, Marc Ching. Using only love as his sword and empathy as his shield, he demolishes every obstacle that would prevent him from recovering the quivering, voiceless souls crying out from foreign lands. In the deep of the night, Marc hears the torment and anguish of these innocent furry creatures.... born unto this earth as our loyal, undying friends.  ---R. B. Stuart

I SEE YOU...Hope

                                                                Hope #10

My name is Hope,
And I had been born into this world to be a lifeless soul. Born to wither away like I was a breath in the day. Like my existence had been a mistake.

I still remember what it was like to be trapped in that place. My heart a smear buried underneath the screams of those who could not be saved. I had only ever known pain. Only ever seen blood peel itself from walls.

Where I am from, there are worse things than dying. There is a darkness so deep that fear itself holds its breath daring not to whisper or speak.

When Marc saved me, he told me that I was the symbol of truth, and the reason why people risk their lives to pull from the Earth suffocated souls like me. He literally watched someone try to kill me. My small body a dying breath left imprinted on a cloud. Marc watched as I fell from the sky to the ground.

When I was dying, I could feel his breath will my heart to beat. When I was dying, I could feel his soul whisper to me.
I am an American now. And I cannot describe to you how life has changed for me. I cannot describe to you how Marc has used his hands to piece together a world around me.

I had never set foot on grass. I never had toys. I had never been held in someone's arms. And while I am happy where I am. While I love Marc's daughter Kyrsten more than anything, Marc told me my destiny is so much larger then his home and with his family. That I was meant to save someone from a similar fate. That my story, that it was meant to pull someone out from darkness.

Because even though people are free, even though in America people live without the fear of death - there is still so many whom are living that are walking around dying.

My name is Hope, and I am the heart of rescue. I am an Animal Hope and Wellness miracle. And I am up for adoption in Los Angeles.    ###Marc Ching

Marc Ching will go to the ends of the earth to rescue a victimized dog. He selflessly rescues as if he is the incarnate of St. Francis of Assisi. His torment, passion and empathy is palpable.  --R. B. STUART

                                                             Buddha #7

My name is Buddha,
And today God chose to give me a chance. Today - life chose to spare me. To align the stars and to pull from the sky my bleeding heart. And a soul that has crumbled to the ground in pieces. I am only six years old, but the chance I have of living a normal life, it has been stolen from me.

I am an animal cruelty case, and the skin I am living in has literally been diseased and torn. How a person can leave me in this state of suffering - I do not understand.
But I am alive. And now more than ever, I am questioning if life is even worth living. I am questioning if the suffering I endure daily, if the pain of having to live in my body, if it is even worth it.

Marc told me that he does not know the quality of life I will have after he rehabilitates me. He does not even know if I will survive. But he told me this - that he believes it's the suffering that makes it worth it. That having to endure intolerable pain and surviving it - that it makes whatever we have left more important.

To live and die, and to experience only misery. Marc told me if this is my life, then the life I lived was for nothing. To live and suffer, but then to find something extraordinary in the end. To have a family, to grow to know what love is. That this is something worth suffering for. That this is the reason to fill my lungs with breath, and to do my best to hold on.

I am currently at an emergency hospital fighting for my life. Fighting to stay alive.

I want to know what love is...    ###Marc Ching
